To reach Jupiter, Juice took a detour past Venus. Now it is returning to Earth for another gravitational boost, while using our Moon to rehearse the navigation it will need around Jupiter’s icy moons.

Juice will use Earth's gravity on 28 September to turn its path and add speed, while Moon-limb images test the optical navigation needed for close flybys in the Jupiter system. By Mission Notes · Edited by Lachlan Brown Published September 23, 2026 · How we…

XRISM measured gas plunging toward pulsar GX 301−2 at 540,000 km/h as it crossed Wray 977’s stellar wind—and found evidence that its turbulent disk breaks apart before rebuilding in the opposite direction.

XRISM's iron-line spectrum directly measured plasma falling onto GX 301−2, while the disk-breakup and reversal sequence remains a model supported by spectra and Fermi timing. By Deep Field · Edited by Lachlan Brown Published September 21, 2026 · How we edit XRISM recorded plasma falling…

During the Solar System’s first million years, its earliest outer worlds formed from material that was up to 92 percent heat-forged rock, while gas flowing through the young system filtered out much of the surrounding ice-rich dust.

Two chemical tracers in carbonaceous iron meteorites indicate that the earliest outer Solar System planetesimals contained only 8 to 17 percent fine matrix, extending aerodynamic sorting to the opening era of planet formation.
